Butterfly Dreamer

Hi Everyone

Monica here with a music themed project for you this week....

I have had this music box since my daughter was a baby, and she is almost 21 now. I decided to use this as the base for my project.

Here is the before....

and here is the after....

And here's how I did it...........

The first thing I did was gesso my piece with Art Anthology Gesso.

I bought some vintage music sheets at an antique store. Got them home and got out my Art Anthology Colorations Sprays in Peacock Feathers, Guacamole, Salted Caramel.

I randomly misted the paper until I got the look I was wanting...

While the mists were drying, I put a a couple of base coats of Art Anthology Metal Effects in Bronze on the music box.

After the mists dried, I tore the sheets of music then applied them around the top and the sides of the music box with a decopodge medium.

I misted the drawer fronts with Art Anthology Colorations Spray in Cinnamon Toast and let that dry. I then decopaged music paper to the fronts.

I covered a wooden spool in gesso, then painted over that with Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Paint in Veridian.
I then randomly applied Art Anthology Stone Effects in Bone. I went over that a bit more with the Veridian, but left some of the stone color showing.

I then used Art Anthology Colorations spray in Raider and sprayed up by the top closely so it would drip. Then I added some random areas of Art Anthology Metal Effects in Gold. I wanted it to look like aged copper...I love how it came out.

Next I stamped a butterfly on another piece of the music sheet, then painted the wings with Art Anthology Velvet Dimensional Paint in Tango. I left the edges of the wings unpainted. To color those I misted on the Art Anthology non stick awesome mat, and used a paint brush to absorb the color and color in the outside edges of the wings with Art Anthology Colorations Spray in Peacock Feathers.

I coated the front of the butterfly with glossy accents.

I wrapped wire around a metal key and stuck that down in the hole of the wooden spool then glued the center of the butterfly to the back of the key.

I glued the wooden spool with the butterfly to the top of the music box.
I used a punch for some smaller butterflies on the drawer fronts and on the spool on top...

Here are some shots of the finished piece.

Ive decided to call it Butterfly Dreamer instead of Beautiful Dreamer...
Thanks for stopping by today to have a look...

Fall in Love With Fall

Hi Everyone...

Monica D here with a fall project for you....

I absolutely love the changing of the seasons. Growing up in California I didn't get to see the splendor of the fall colors like I do here in the Ozarks of Arkansas. It is truly breathtaking.

I live in a very wooded area, so I went outside and took a few pictures to use in a layout.
I also grabbed some acorns and leaves from my yard. They are everywhere!!!

Here is a picture of the finished layout...

Now for my process...

I grabbed an 11x14 sheet of mixed media paper, then went to my scrap paper stash. I grabbed all different papers with fall colors on them.

I tore the different papers and collaged them to the mixed media paper.

Next I grabbed my awesome Art Anthology mists. I used Juicy, Glorious, Cinnamon Toast, Patience, and I misted the edges with Peacock Feathers.

I randomly sprayed the mists and let them puddle on the collaged papers. I dabbed a few areas with a paper towel to absorb some of the mist.

Next I grabbed a tag and misted it with Juicy, Peacock Feathers, and Plush.

I used a paper punch along the edge of the tag, and also along one edge of the collaged page.

I added some sari ribbon, a metal clip, and a metal heart that I made, and key to the tag.

I picked which photo I wanted to use and tore the edges, then used the paper punch on the outside edge of the photo. I then sprayed some Cinnamon Toast on my Art Anthology Mat and let it absorb into the torn edges of the photo.

Next I grabbed my Art Anthology Dimensional Crystal in Olive and framed the picture with dots. I also added some dimension to the leaf with it as well.

Then it was time to glue everything down. I added the Beautiful tag with a piece of sari ribbon to the bottom of the pictures, and some embellishments around the acorns.

I used letter stickers for the words at the top of the page.

So once again here is the finished layout....

I love the versatility of the Art Anthology products and the different effects you can get using them with different mediums.

You can find all of the products I used and more  here

I Hope this inspires you to go make something in gorgeous fall colors to display in your home. This is going on my fireplace mantle.

Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure and check the Art Anthology Blog every day to see what all of the amazing Art Anthology Design Team members are creating.

Learning to Fly

Wow...November 1...this year has really flown by.

Today I was cleaning up my studio and decided to throw some scraps together...I have so many little snippets of paper and punch cut outs and I really want to start using them instead of just shoving them in a box or drawer.

I put this together today.

I think I am going to use this as a journal cover. I think the journal will be some of my favorite song lyrics...I have this really cool spiral bound book with pockets in it that I found at Goodwill last year...I think I will devote this journal to paper scraps and unused embellishments. A use my stash and scraps journal.
That butterfly stamp is awesome isn't it? That is actually a ghost stamp from excess ink and I totally love it...you can get one here Indigo Blue Big Butterfly Stamp

I also have a project I am going to be working on for my next Art Anthology Design team project so be sure and stay tuned.
